These guys have pestered us all for years, appealing to the deepest depths of our hearts, and squeezing out any piece of empathy they can find. Well, today we shall be discussing the true intentions behind this group, and how they operate.
The company - INSIDE SUCCESS UNION C.I.C. is not actually a registered charity by law and is a social enterprise, or “community interest company” if you will. They have no right to ask for donations to a cause that they do not fundraise for… although they will be allowed to fundraise if they have registered with the fundraising register using a charity number that does not exist. More on the founders later.
Workers - The guys in the field. The guys asking you for money. The guys getting paid literal peanuts. The way the payment structure works is you are given a daily target. This is usually £40-60. As a worker, you will be allowed to keep anything above that amount. Which according to many former employees is extremely rare.
The Founders - Darren and David. The guys at the top of the food chain. The guys reaping the rewards of tourists’ mental weakness. Two Bedfordshire University Alumni who met during their Media Course.
The Accounts: My favourite bit. This enterprise has raked in a whopping £760,492 in 2020 and almost instantly redistributed its earnings back into its business… but is that really where it’s going, it is unclear as Directors are usually required to receive a payment but with ISU being registered as a CIC it is totally normal for it to be redistributed back in. With a markup, most companies would be envious of. GET THEM ON DRAGONS DEN!
A more in-depth look at the Profit & Loss will tell us all we need to know. 646,692 paid out between David and Darren. with a 7X increase in profit year on year during COVID, a time when we were not even allowed out. This is clearly a FOR PROFIT!
*disclaimer - it Is not 100% clear where the commission is being paid to as it DOES state further down in the accounts the directors were NOT remunerated. Although it Is unclear where it Is going as multiple former fundraisers have come out saying they barely received commission.
After consulting a Senior Chartered Accountant at one of the UK’s leading Charities, it became clear. INSIDE SUCCESS UNION is simply a scam and is an elaborate scheme created to convert donations to sales. Legal in the eyes of the law (albeit barely), painful in the heart of the soul.
